When Shootlab was commissioned to provide video production in Mayfair for the Fordway Cybersecurity Forum at the historic Royal Institution, we knew this wasn’t a typical corporate shoot. It was a day designed to bring IT leaders and cybersecurity professionals together, while raising funds for Little Lives UK, a children’s charity that supports digital inclusion.
Our role as the chosen videographer in Mayfair was to capture the keynotes, networking, interviews, and the overall atmosphere — turning a single day into a film that would showcase Fordway’s thought leadership for years to come.
A Prestigious Mayfair Venue
The Royal Institution is one of Mayfair’s most historic venues, known for discoveries that shaped the modern world. One attendee captured it perfectly when they said:
“We’re here at the Royal Institution today, which is fascinating about the science and the history behind some of the great discoveries that effectively shape the world as we work today.”
For our videography team filming in Mayfair, this heritage offered more than just a backdrop – it shaped the story we wanted to tell. We combined wide establishing shots of the grand exterior with detailed interior cutaways and audience perspectives, ensuring the film captured both the setting and the professional energy of this London event.

Capturing Leadership in Cybersecurity
The forum opened with a keynote by Sarah Armstrong-Smith, Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft, who explored the evolving cyber threat landscape — from Cybercrime-as-a-Service to state-level cyber warfare.
As one participant reflected:
“The highlight for me today was the talk that Sarah did about cyber security…it’s going to be all about trying to get underneath the hood of new technologies and why they’re important and how they can benefit you.”
For our event videography team in London, the goal was to capture not just Sarah’s insights but the energy in the room. Using a multi-camera setup — a static wide shot for coverage, a roaming gimbal for dynamic angles, and directional microphones for clear audio — we created a film sequence that showed both her delivery and the audience’s engagement.
Later in the day, Richard Blanford, Fordway CEO, gave a deep dive into Microsoft’s cybersecurity tools and its Reference Architecture, offering practical steps for organisations moving toward a zero-trust model. We ensured this was filmed with the same balance of clarity and pace, presenting technical content in a way that felt both authoritative and accessible.

Nature Meets Networks — A Unique Perspective
The day also featured Danny Diskin, co-founder of RAINreforest.org, who drew creative parallels between nature and technology.
“I gave a talk today about nature’s networks and tech networks. So there’s a whole load of connections we can find between nature and tech.”
For our videography team filming in Mayfair, this session offered something different to capture. It wasn’t just about recording a presentation, but about showing how fresh perspectives on resilience and regeneration resonated with the audience.
As event videographers in London, we used reaction shots, dynamic close-ups, and carefully chosen soundbites to highlight how these unconventional ideas sparked engagement in the room.

Filming the Atmosphere: Trust, Learning, and Networking
At the Fordway Cybersecurity Forum, the conversations between sessions were as valuable as the keynote talks. Attendees exchanged ideas, built professional connections, and even explored the Faraday Museum, which was opened especially for the day.
As one participant explained:
“It’s great to be able to bring customers, or Fordway, and potential customers together. Really good for them to be able to talk about shared experience, shared challenge.”
And another added:
“I think these types of events are really good for exchanging ideas and for networking.”
As event videographers in Mayfair, we focused on filming these authentic, unscripted moments — from handshakes to lively discussions — and wove them into the final highlight reel. This approach ensured that the film reflected not just the expertise on stage, but also the trust and collaboration built throughout the day.

Storytelling in the Edit
Back in post-production, our role as event videographers in Mayfair was to transform raw footage into a cohesive story. The highlight film included:
Keynote moments from Microsoft and Fordway.
Audience reactions that showed engagement.
Networking clips that conveyed trust and collaboration.
Venue cutaways that grounded the event in Mayfair’s history.
The finished edit didn’t just document the day — it captured the essence of the forum, showing how thought leadership, collaboration, and place combined to make the event memorable.

Giving Back — Supporting Little Lives UK
The forum wasn’t just about cybersecurity — it also had a charitable purpose. Fordway pledged £50 per attendee, raising £1,500 for Little Lives UK, a charity dedicated to helping children access technology.
As one participant summed up:
“Today’s event, it brings three great speakers and it’s all supporting Little Lives charity.”
Including this in the final film ensured the story captured not only the business and technology insights but also the positive social impact of the day.
Audience Response
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. 100% of respondents rated the event “excellent” or “very good,” and 85% said the speaker panel was “very interesting.”
One participant summed up the atmosphere perfectly:
“Hopefully everyone comes away from this event thinking, ‘Yes, there is something that I need to be doing.’ And ideally they think, ‘Yes, Fordway will be the perfect organisation to help them do it.’”
For us as event videographers in Mayfair, capturing these responses on film was just as important as recording the keynotes. Audience reactions, candid reflections, and post-event interviews gave the final film authenticity and made it a lasting showcase for Fordway’s leadership in cybersecurity.
At Shootlab, we regularly partner with organisations hosting events across Mayfair’s most prestigious venues — from leadership masterclasses to technology forums.
